I volunteered for Rubia, Inc.- a non profit organization based in both N.H. and Afghanistan for many years.  Rubia sells beautiful embroidered textiles from a community of women in rural Afghanistan and promotes the development of sustainable business, literacy and basic health for these Afghan women and their families.

In February of 2004, I traveled to Darrai Noor, Afghanistan to meet these women.  While there, I developed a business relationship with the lead embroidery trainer, Hafiza, who has stitched unique pieces of embroidery for me to use at Creek Hill Upholstery in various applications.   This enables Hafiza to develop her business and for me to acquire and offer beautiful hand-embroidered works of art for sale.
